No Bake Milk Tart Recipe

139'
'A South African classic – No-Bake creamy Milk Tart. It’s been a staple in many South African households for generations and for good reason! Creamy in texture, it is compared to a milky pudding with a buttery, biscuity crust. It is the perfect tea-time treat. Originating from the Dutch Cape Colony in the 1700’s, it was believed to have been adapted from the Dutch ‘Mattentaart’ – similar to a cheesecake. Melktert (Afrikaans name) is slightly sweet, milky and light in texture. The crust is made with tennis biscuits, giving this delight a delicious coconut flavour. It all adds to the perfect balance of creamy and crumbly – evoking nostalgic feelings of home, comfort and loved ones. This heritage dessert is quick to whip up and will knock the socks off your guests. Lekker eet! (Afrikaans for “Enjoy your treat!”)
